Luke Jerram’s ‘Pollenarium’ Turns Thames Visitors Into Insect Viewers

Artist Luke Jerram has installed the “Pollenarium” alongside the Thames, a structure that mimics a single grain of pollen while housing more than a hundred lenses that recreate the visual perspective of insects. The work invites the public to experience the world through an insect’s eye, offering a vivid illustration of how pollinators perceive their environment.

Designed to highlight the essential role of pollinators in ecosystems, the installation combines scientific insight with artistic imagination. By immersing viewers in a miniature, distorted view of the surrounding landscape, it underscores the urgency of protecting these species and the habitats they rely on.
